THE ORIGINAL SPARK
Dynamite Valley is a brewery wrapped in history. It’s the story of the Kennall Vale Gunpowder Works, our community’s beloved 19th-century purveyors of things that go bang. At its peak, the company produced 5,000 barrels a year. At one of its lower points, it accidentally destroyed five mills in a single day.
In the second half of the century, a young Alfred Nobel (who later founded the Nobel Peace Prize)appeared at the nearby Falmouth Polytechnic Hall to promote his new invention, dynamite - and inadvertently blew up much of the hall’s interior.
Nevertheless, the gunpowder business continued to boom until the company closed for good in 1910. As dynamite began to surpass gunpowder in demand, the directors shifted focus, experimenting with Cornish dynamite and relocating operations to a new site.
Down in the valley, the oak trees, lichen and bluebells began reclaiming the ruined buildings and rusting equipment.
THE ORIGINAL SPARK
A hundred years later, a little downriver in what was known as Dynamite Valley, a microbrewery burst to life. Inspired by the history reverberating through the gully, the brewers began experimenting with groundbreaking recipes and unpredictable flavours.
Today, Dynamite Valley brewery keeps this spark of inspiration alive, with ales that ignite the senses and shake up the industry. From the pale and peachy to the bright and gold. From oatmeal stouts to unfiltered frogs. We mine flavours and ideas from the four corners of the world, and wrap them up in our iconic bottles.
We’re proud to have picked up a string of prestigious awards for our Cornish ales, each one a testament to the craft, care, and a little bit of madness we pour into every brew. From cosy village pubs to iconic destinations like the Eden Project and the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery, our beers are lighting up taps and shelves across Cornwall. Now, they’re making their mark across the UK too.
Every bottle and cask that leaves Dynamite Valley carries the spirit of this explosive landscape. Bold. Untamed. Unapologetically full of flavour. We brew with passion, a touch of rebellion, and a deep love for this place we call home.
